Our History

Our History

Our company is a Western Australian, family owned civil engineering construction company, currently celebrating 35 years of business.

Bocol was founded in 1979, by two qualified professional civil engineers; current owner and Managing Director, Richard (Dick) Boyle and John Colley (retired). Prior to establishing Bocol, Dick and John worked at both company and project management levels for major civil engineering companies throughout England, Africa, Malaysia and the Middle East.

Within Australia, Dick and John were responsible for the delivery of some of Western Australia’s more notable civil engineering projects including; Mitchell Freeway Stage 2 and the Garden Island Causeway Bridge.

Both Dick and John understood that construction, together with managing a successful business, involved personal financial risk, dedication and hard work. The companies success ultimately depended on their management capability and technical expertise to successfully deliver technically demanding civil engineering projects to the highest professional standards and quality specifications.

They established a clear set of cultured values: trust, respect, and integrity within its business strategies and policies, which continue to remain central to Bocol’s business framework and decision making process to this day.

Bocol continues to remain at the forefront of specialised bridge and other civil related construction. We are client focused and committed to delivering high quality, cost competitive, and value-added construction and designed based solutions to all of our projects, that exceeds what our clients can find elsewhere.
